Maintenance Tips and Window Care Guide
Proper cleaning will ensure the longevity of your window finish. For thorough cleaning of the window, the following procedures should be followed:
Frame Surfaces
Use a mild solution of household cleaner or dishwashing detergent. Surfaces should be gently wiped with a soft cloth, and rinse soap with warm clean water. For stubborn stains, use a diluted spray cleaner (i.e.: Fantastic). Remember to rinse off any detergent before it dries.
Glass Surfaces
Use any commercial glass cleaner (available at retail outlets). Or use a solution of vinegar and water.
Screens
Use a mild solution of household cleaner or dishwashing detergent (i.e.: Ivory Liquid mixed with water). Screens should be sprayed with clean water to remove soap and debris.
CAUTION
Do not use harsh abrasives on any part of the window. Handle the screens carefully.
Hardware
Cleaning Window gear, lever locks and hinges may require occasional cleaning and lubrication. Use a mild solution of household cleaner or dishwashing detergent (i.e.: Ivory Liquid mixed with water). Always rinse hardware with clean water and dry completely before lubricating.
CAUTION
Do not use the following cleaners on hardware:- Vinegar or Citrus based cleaners (Lemon, etc.)
- Industrial strength or abrasive cleaners.
- Glass cleaners or brick/siding washes.
Lubrication
Gear drives.
Lithium grease, Automotive grease, or Petroleum Jelly. Hinges & Rollers WD40, Light Oil or Graphite.
Caution
Avoid using silicone-based sprays or lubricants. They might cause some plastic components to become brittle.
WHEN USING ANY CLEANING AGENTS, FOLLOW THE PRODUCT MANUFACTURER'S PRECAUTIONARY SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE CONTAINER LABEL. ALWAYS PROTECT AGAINST CONTACT OF THE SOLUTION WITH EYES OR SKIN.
